It takes knowledge and experience to import a JDM. We specialize in importing from Japan to NZ only. Unlike some companies who ship cars all over the world like to Africa and USA, we only cater to our local NZ customers. We have the required experience to help you with JDM import.
We see literally thousands of cars at the auctions every month. And we have an eye for a good one.
More often we will cancel your bids then buy. In fact, 80% of your bids will be cancelled by us. Why? Because the car does not feel right to us. It's in short.
If in details:
- We don't buy from Northern auctions or Hokkaido or auctions located on the West Coast? Why? Do you really need to know) We know from where to buy.
- Not all auction houses are good to win certain cars and we avoid them.
- We check if the car was auctioned before and try to reason why they selling it again.
- We ask and share a second and third opinion within our team and then with contacts in Japan.
- We aim to find you a JDM you will love to own and to drive. So we don't buy the first car you placed a bid on. We are waiting for the right vehicle to show up and then advise you to make a move to secure it.
Some of our customers prefer a JDM which require some repairs or for a project. Because they have connections with workshops or on the budget or both.
Many JDM are 20 years and older, and will come with underbody surface rust, 90% of them do, it's expected. We try to determine the extent of the rust.
How many shades of rust do you know? There are one part rust, suspension rust only, or surface rust, or heavy rust, or corrosion, or painted under. We deliver all this info to you with our advice, so you can make a decision. Often we even talk you away from bidding on certain cars.
Rust is repaired in New Zealand by compliance for you, it's starting from around $2000+
It is at trade cost.
Rust repair will be carried out under the supervision of the repair engineer and will come with a repair certificate. They will sandblast, rust treat, and black color paint. Rust repair is in fact a good thing, your car will be protected from any future rust development and will pass WOF every time. It will increase the value of the car as well. So allocate these costs into your budget. Good thing, it's all done for you, with updates on the progress.
Another common thing when importing a JDM is obtaining a Low Volume Certificate for any modifications. Like lowered suspension, mounts, sports seats etc. It cost from $650 and some wait is involved for the LVV inspector to check your car. Also, it is all done for you.
You will get a ready to go car, with WOF, repair certificates and LVV plated. You just pick up a car ready to enjoy it.
